Some comments from this year's visitors, 2009. We have had a most enjoyable week. We particularly enjoyed the walks through Entraygues and Estaing. A visit to the Millau bridge is well worth the effort - the scenery is stunning as is the viaduct itself. We tried the local Entraygues wine ... and particularly enjoyed the rosé. The local shopkeepers were all very friendly and helpful. The cottage is well appointed... Thank you for a most enjoyable week, we would have no hesitation in recommending your gite to our friends. H and R; Scotland We've had a brilliant holiday - very relaxing, yet full of interest. The cottage is lovely.... it contains everything you need, and more. The pool is excellent - what a view, while you relax in the sun. We didn't know what to expect of Entraygues and surroundings before we came, but we're really taken by it. Among our best experiences have been: - following the town trail and finding parts of the town we'd have missed; the route up through St. Hippolyte and Lacroix Barrez, down through Vallon;.... Canoeing the Lot; ....visiting Bez Bédène, Le Fel, Estaing and ...Bozouls. We had a lovely meal at La Terrasse at Vieillevie. L and B; Devon Another lovely 2 weeks in a fabulous cottage. Thank you Lesley and Howard for such a warm welcome and generous hospitality throughout our stay.....We thoroughly enjoyed lunch at Aux Armes d'Estaing and hope to return to enjoy lunch at Restaurant La Capelette at Hotel de la Truyere in Moliere which eluded us this year (closed on Saturday and fully booked on Friday)! We also frequented Le Salon de Thé in Entraygues. It was wonderful to enjoy warm September sunshine. E, P, G and J; Essex A lovely extremely well-equipped Gite in a truly beautiful area. Lots of interesting little villages to visit although our first week was so hot we were just too lethargic to stray far from the gorgeous pool.... Very friendly local people especially in town. E, J and K; Lancashire The cottage was beautifully clean and well appointed. It was great to have so many items waiting for us in the fridge. We particularly enjoyed the pool, it is great for swimming lengths and the views are fantastic. We loved kayaking on the Lot and enjoyed walking in the lovely countryside straight from the cottage door. We also liked the night market in Entraygues - it was more authentic than others we have seen. Conques was also fascinating and well worth the visit; as was the high plateau of the Aubrac.... R and C M; London A week has not been long enough to enjoy this superb area of France....Gite very well equipped and comfortable. We especially enjoyed Estaing and the Friday morning market at Espalion. S, M, R and K Oxfordshire Brilliant! We would all like to thank you for your help... and hope to see you in the near future! Restaurants: La Terrasse in Vieillevie was excellent. The Farmers market was very good and a trip to the Millau bridge is strongly recommended. K H and family Wales ...has been one of the most enjoyable weeks we have spent in France....can't really think of anything else you could do to improve on what's already here. C and S Yorkshire I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in your cottage. It truly is a beautiful place in a lovely location. We both agreed that it was the best one we have ever stayed in. Very many thanks for making us so welcome. L B-C Bristol We've enjoyed an excellent week in a superb gite....nothing has been too much trouble .... we particularly appreciated the loan of books and walking guides. The gite is in a wonderful position, very relaxing. It's amazing to hear so many birds and to see so many wild flowers. It's the best equipped gite we've been to in France. We've enjoyed many visits and walks, in particular the Aubrac and a walk from St Chely. Bozouls is also well worth a visit. We have used Super U on the outskirts of Espalion for major shopping and the shops in Entraygues for daily needs. C.N Yorks ...the welcome pack was very thoughtful. The gite is fantastic and we couldn't have wished for a better base for our first visit to the Aveyron. We had chosen some places to visit ourselves but the best were always those suggested by Howard and Lesley - Vallon and Bez Bedene in particular. ...We didn't know about the Aligot before we arrived - but cheesy mash - what a result!! All in all this has been a fantastic holiday - the gite, pool, scenery, excursions, food and wine... G and R, Edinburgh Some comments from the visitors in 2008. An enjoyable two weeks of relaxation and activity in equal measure. Most of all we've enjoyed exploring all the valleys and stopping off at villages en route.... Everything we needed has been here in the cottage. The pool is wonderful....We found Entraygues a charming village. Do the self-guided walk-it reveals all kinds of info.... A and O; RochdaleWe've had a wonderful week in this very comfortable cottage..... Everything and everybody has been catered for. We enjoyed the pool in particular with its superb views across the valley. T and J; SurreyA wonderful week in a very comfortable cottage with all that we could have wished for. ...Most of all we enjoyed the poolside and pool, the orchard and garden/patio areas. Plenty of space for all of us. A fabulous week we would love to come again! P, E, G and J; EssexHad a lovely three weeks here - gite is great and the surroundings are spectacular. Particularly enjoyed the pool! Entraygues is a beautiful little town and we've enjoyed popping in to do the shopping and to visit the farmer's market on Wednesday evenings.....Fantastic holiday - would recommend this Gite to family and friends, C, S, J and S....this is by far the best cottage we have stayed in. The pool is beautiful and we loved the orchard with the picnic bench. It was lovely to be able to use the hamper and blankets. smashing shower and bathrooms. We cannot fault any of it. Bez Bedene is very picturesque. Estaing is really interesting with its Roman bridges, chateau/eglise. Conques is a must see. N, S and J Lancs.
Right from our arrival we have felt comfortable, refreshed and tranquil. The Gite is very well equipped and the pool has a view to die for. Places we loved - Bez Bedene, Ste Eulalie d'Olt, Bozouls, and although a two hour drive, Najac and Cordes sur Ciel. Best meals were at the Cafe-Bar at Montsalvy (for 10 € including wine!); for proper French charm and atmosphere Chez Marinette in Le Fel - but book first. P and K, Devon
We couldn't have chosen better - both location and accommodation.....A stunning area with many historical and beautiful places within reach and always feeling at the end of the day we were coming home to Le Puech. The facilities, swimming pool, garden area, patio are great... An absolute bonus was man's companion", Brecon, a permanent resident here, always ready for a walk. No better recommendation than I would love friends and family to come here. M,S and E, Wales
What a lovely Gite - peaceful and very welcoming... Great care was taken to cater for guests - with a very welcome "welcome pack". we enjoyed the beautiful pool area. The drive up to Valon was worthwhile, with a stop-off in Pons. We also particularly enjoyed Conques. C and C, F and G, Cumbria Some comments from visitors in our first year, 2007.
